Thighplasty, or a thigh lift, is an aesthetic surgical procedure designed to tighten and improve the appearance of your thighs. Often sagging excess skin can result from aging, pregnancy or significant weight loss. The goal of thighplasty is to lift and contour your thighs so that they look slimmer and more proportionate to the rest of your body.
Dr. Crichlow often uses a combination of thighplasty and liposuction techniques to give your thighs a smoother, tighter and more toned appearance. If you are considering thighplasty, keep in mind that it is not meant to help you lose weight. In fact, it is best for people who are at or close to their ideal weight but dissatisfied with the appearance of their thighs.
Some thighplasty procedures, specifically inner and medial thighplasties, can be performed on an outpatient basis. A bilateral thighplasty is more involved and may require an overnight hospital stay. As for recovery, you will probably return to work within seven to ten days and resume full physical activity after four to six weeks. Dr. Crichlow will use your body’s natural creases to hide incision sites, and the scars left will slowly fade over time.
